Top 3 of 2023

Written by:

While reflecting on all the books I read last year I decided to do a quick roundup of my top 3 of 2023! I love reading new books when they come out and staying on top of popular reads, however I also love having options of books on my TBR list that came out in prior years. This is especially helpful if you get your books from a library and are unable to get the new releases right away. See below for three of my favorites that I read last year – and add them to your list!

5/5 Stars

This book was published in April of 2023 and I chose it as my Book of the Month that month. This was a debut and I absolutely loved everything about it!

  • Contemporary Fiction
  • The story follows Adelaide who is a 26 year old American living in London and her journey to finding herself through a one-sided relationship
  • This book was incredibly honest and relatable which is really why I loved it so much – I felt like I knew Adelaide so well
  • Frustrating, sad, and hopeful

5/5 Stars

This book was released in March of 2023 and I read it in May. I really loved this book which has modern references to Little Women and is from the author of popular book Dear Edward.

  • Literary Fiction
  • This story follows troubled William and the four Padavano sisters on their journey throughout life in a heart wrenching family drama
  • The book spans many decades and looks at many different aspects of the characters lives
  • I thought this was really a great story of family, love, relationships, and heartache

5/5 Stars

This book actually came out at the end of 2022 but I wasn’t able to read it until last year – and I am so glad I did! This was easily my favorite book that I read last year.

  • Literary Fiction
  • This is a story about Demon who grows up in Appalachia in the 90s/00s
  • The book takes you on a journey from when Demon was a young boy in foster care through adolescence and the beginning of the opioid crisis
  • This is a longer read – 550 pages – but it honestly did not feel like it, I didn’t want it to end
  • This book was inspired by Charles Dickens David Copperfield

If you haven’t read these already – add them to your list for 2024, you won’t regret it!
