Happy March! Let’s take a look back at the books I read in February. This month I was able to read four books, both of my Book of the Month picks and two other books I read on Kindle. It was a mixed bag of reviews this month. Let’s get to it!
February Book of the Month Reads
5/5 Stars
- Historical Fiction
- This is a very immersive story that takes place during the Vietnam War – Kristin Hannah is an amazing storyteller
- The book follows Frankie, a young nurse, who decides to follow in her brother’s footsteps and enlist in Vietnam as an Army nurse
- We follow Frankie while she is at war and see her struggles when she returns and tries to adapt to a post Vietnam War life
- I really learned so much from this book and was fascinated by the historical setting
- Frankie is a likable character and you want to see her succeed
- I cannot recommend this book enough, especially if you are a Kristin Hannah fan – it does not disappoint!
- Note – this is about 450+ pages but goes by fast and I found it to be a super quick read
3/5 Stars
- Romance
- Slow burn friends-to-lovers story that involves an unplanned pregnancy
- Eve enjoys her steady life in Brooklyn until she finds herself unexpectedly pregnant from a one night stand
- Her best friend’s brother becomes her shoulder to lean on and the two start exploring if there could be something more – meanwhile the father is also in the picture trying to figure out where he plays into their lives
- This book was very mediocre to me and I found it a bit slow at times – it felt like not much actually happened
- I also found that a lot of the supporting characters had stories that were not fully flushed out and never really saw follow through
- This book has a lot of good reviews, so it may just not have been for me – if you are interested in reading it, I recommend still giving it a chance!
February Kindle Reads

Talking at Night by Claire Daverley
4/5.5 Stars
- Contemporary Fiction/Romance
- This is a beautiful story about Will and Rosie who meet while they are teenagers and follows them into their 30s
- I really loved the writing of this book – however, I want to note there are no quotation marks. This does not bother me – but it bothers some!
- The story switches POVs and showcases the ups and downs of each characters lives both separately and together
- Through many tragic events, Will and Rosie continue to find their way back to each other time and time again
- Highly recommend if you like this type of story – while it is a romance, I personally think it had many other aspects and read more like contemporary fiction
4/5 Stars
- Contemporary Fiction
- Darcy’s world falls apart without notice and she decides to go back home to her small town in Murbridge, MA while in the midst of a breakdown
- A lot has changed in Murbridge and while she finds herself holed up in her childhood home, she eventually seeks out human connection and members of the community
- This is a super quirky story that was not really what I was expecting
- A bit of a slower start and it took me longer to become engaged
- This book is divided into 4 chapters, so they are quite long
- This story had a really feel good ending and message that put a smile on my face, I also enjoyed reading the author’s note at the end
- Read this if you want something light-hearted, quirky, and different!
I hope you enjoyed February’s reviews! Come back next month to see what I get up to in March 🙂
