I hope everyone has been reading some great books since I last posted. I haven’t written in a while but I’m back! Here’s what I’ve been reading the past couple of months. A mixed bag of romance, fiction, and thrillers. Let’s get to some reviews!

The God of the Woods by Liz Moore
4.5/5 Stars
- Literary Fiction
- When Barbara Van Laar goes missing from her Adirondack summer camp in 1975, the similarities between her disappearance and her brothers from 14 years prior are too similar to overlook
- Jumping back and forth in time from present day (1975) to 14 years earlier, we are on a journey to figure out what happened to both Van Laar children
- Multiple points of view and a nonlinear timeline with many different characters made this story exciting for me
- Although classified as literary fiction, this book reads like a thriller and had me on the edge of my seat
- I really like this author and this was one of my favorite books of hers
- If you are looking for a page turning thriller but not one that will keep you up at night this is the perfect book for you!

Honey by Isabel Banta
4.5/5 Stars
- Contemporary Fiction
- Amber is a teenager in the late 90’s when she gets a call that changes everything – they want her for the latest girl group Cloud9
- This catapults her music career in an unforgiving industry during her late teens and early twenties
- The story follows Amber as she navigates fame, romance, friendship, and public opinion
- I love a coming of age story and as someone who grew up in the 90s and early 00s this book was perfect in my eyes
- I really enjoyed following Amber’s story and came to really love her as a character and root for her
- Overall, this was a really fun one for me – highly recommend!

Funny Story by Emily Henry
4/5 Stars
- Romance
- Daphne and Miles have nothing in common and are thrown together under unfortunate circumstances in this “fake dating trope” story
- After Daphne’s fiance, Peter, breaks off their engagement she ends up alone in Michigan and roommates with the ex-boyfriend (Miles) of who Peter left her for
- Through their shared misery they decide to come up with a plan to make their exes jealous – but what happens when they develop actual feelings for each other?
- I LOVE Emily Henry so much but this was probably my least favorite book of hers (but still very good – she has set the bar super high)!
- I could not really connect with the characters and it took me longer than usual to get through this book
- That being said, she is such a great writer and reading her books is always a treat
- I liked this book but didn’t love it – although I think my expectations were a bit too high. If you are an Emily Henry fan (or just a romance fan in general) definitely still give this book a read and let me know what you think!

The Five-Star Weekend by Elin Hilderbrand
3.5/5 Stars
- Contemporary fiction
- After Hollis’s husband dies unexpectedly she gathers four friends from four different eras of her life to share a weekend at her Nantucket house
- Each friend is going through something of their own and all know Hollis from different points throughout her life and have different perspectives on their friendship
- The weekend will unveil a lot with many secrets and buried drama at play
- This was a fun easy beach read that focuses on female friendships
- I enjoyed the multiple viewpoints from multiple different characters and the breezy Nantucket setting
- Overall, I found this book to be an easy read but probably not too memorable – I highly recommend if you are looking for something fun and easy to read on the beach!
That’s it for now! Let’s all do our best to keep reading this holiday season. I’ll be back 🙂
